Sorry for the lack of updates

Folks sorry for the lack of updates, we've been enjoying a summer full of races planned and run by others. It now time to start thinking about our own events again.

We're in full flight planning the next event in the series which will take place at Binevenagh (near Limavady) on the 4th-5th October we're also going to run a second youth event which will take place in Coleraine on the 28th September.

More details will be on the website in the coming weeks, we're also setting up details on the online entry system.

The CuCuhulain Challenge

The CuCuhulain Challenge is fast approaching and we expect to have more details about this event very soon, with entries opening for the event after the Baronscourt event is over. We've had a lash at the route ourselves over Easter weekend and the route worked very well. Ivan and Keith had the help of Jonny Gallier from team Uphill Struggle (thanks Jonny) to test run the route. We run the route just as teams will be doing in under 6 weeks time. We have to admit we didn't do the swim or kayak stages because of the weather and the strong north winds. We used two mountain bikes, one fitted with simi-slick tyres instead of one mountain bike and one road bike. None of the stages lasted more than 2hrs some were as short as 20mins. Expect more details on this event soon.

Youth Event

We've just had a sucessful day yesterday (Sunday 16/03/08) and to the best of our knowledge we have just run the first ever youth adventure race in Ireland. We'll be putting some pictures and a report up on the website over the next few days. It was a very low key event, which we run as a pilot event so that we could learn what the youth of today was fit to take on. We now feel that we've learnt enough to enable us to run another youth event later on in the year. Watch this space for more details.

Saturday Nights Accommodation

If you've entered the Castlewellan 2 day event chances are Meelmore Lodge is the place you will be staying on the Saturday night. Places are filling up at the lodge so if you have already entered we'll be getting in touch with you very shortly to sort out who's staying where. If you still plan to enter then we'll soon have to book you in somewhere else and this may cost you more money.

Meelmore Lodge is ideally situated at the foot of Slieve Meelmore, which forms part of the Mourne Mountains in south Down. The facilities at Meelmore Lodge are perfect for those interested in walking in the Mournes, both professionals and amateurs alike! However, if walking is not your thing, there are plenty of other attractions to tickle your fancy.
